Vortex 250 Pro
The Vortex 250 Pro is swift quad copter designed flying drone that comes fully assembled and fully tested when it is delivered to your door. This is a welcome feature for those who are just getting into drone racing. Many people want to get into the drone hobby but are quickly discouraged when a box of parts shows up at their house with IKEA-like instructions. That is not the case with the Vortex 250 Pro.
Another major impediment to getting into drone flying is the fragility of most drones. The Vortex 250 Pro is rated among the most durable drones of its class. The secret behind the longevity of the Vortex 250 Pro is that its flat arms are made from 4mm-thick carbon fiber that many have described as “nearly unbreakable.”
But the arms aren't the only carbon fiber innovation on the Vortex 250 Pro. It also utilizes a 2mm-thick carbon fiber top plate and 2mm-thick FR4 skid plates. This makes it one of the most crash resistant quad drones on the market.
The Vortex 250 Pro is an upgraded version of the Vortex 250 racer manufactured by ImmersionRC. These upgrades include more powerful 2204 motors, a 2MB black box recorder, 20A ESCs, a new F3 flight controller, programmable read LED lights, and a GoPro camera mount that is included with your purchase.
The Vortex 250 Pro weighs 3.15 lbs. It measures 14.6” by 12.7” by 3.5”.
The pack containing the Vortex 250 Pro also comes with a Vortex 250 Pro Zipper case, two ImmersionRC battery straps, a SpiroNET Omni 5.8GHz antenna, a PPM Interface Cable, a Spektrum Interface Cable, an SBus Interface Cable, and eight OEM Gemfan 5045BN GFK Props. Basically, this kit contains everything you need to start your drone racing career as soon as possible.
How It Compares
We picked a few similar products available on the market to see how they compare.
Ease of Use:
It is difficult to find a drone that is easier to set up out of the box. Every drone is test flown before it reaches you, so you can rest assured that you will not receive a dud. The controls are intuitive, and even tune ups can be performed by relative novices to drone racing. The few hiccups that we did run into could be easily remedied by a quick visit to YouTube.
You cannot get any better on the assembly time front than a product that comes fully assembled. So often our enthusiasm for a product can be crushed when we are presented with the reality that we have to assemble said product ourselves. Not so with the Vortex 250 Pro. It arrives fully assembled and fully tested.
The design quality leaves very little to be desired. This is a drone focused on racing that is also durable enough to protect your investment. Some have argued that it is not the prettiest racing drone on the market, but we say that it looks fine in the winner's circle.
The Vortex 250 Pro does not come with a manufacturer's warranty, but it almost always comes with a retailer's warranty that varies depending on where you buy it from.

No list of quad drones would be complete without mentioning Holy Stone. Their HS700D is a great drone for capturing footage for its price point, but it cannot compete with the Vortex 250 Pro in terms of its racing capabilities. We recommend this for hobbyists that like to take a leisurely view of things.
Ease of Use:
The setup with the Holy Stone HS700D FPV Drone takes noticeably longer than the Vortex 250 Pro. Getting its video channel working properly also took some effort on our end.
One problem we had with this drone is that it weighs enough that it has to be registered with the FAA. This is not exactly part of its “assembly” per se, but it is enough of a nuisance that we had to dock it a few points in this category.
The Holy Stone HS700D FPV Drone undeniably looks great, and its footage is beautiful and smooth.
This drone comes with a 30-day warranty.

The DJI Mavic Air is one of the best looking quad copters on the market. Its aesthetics blend futuristic vibes with Ancient Egyptian angular grace. It even comes in black, white, and red, so you can show off your personality when you are flying your drone. Its three axis gimbal allows it to capture nimble footage even when it is moving quickly. The problem? It is quite expensive.
Ease of Use:
This drone is intuitive to fly. We had few issues tuning it or repairing it when that became necessary.
There is not much assembly required for this drone, but some is required. Charging to full out of the box is recommended so that your first flight is not at half capacity.
The design is sleek, attractive, and built to last.
DJI warranties this product for up to 30 days after purchase. They will not replace parts that are damaged in crashes.

The Potensic D88 Foldable Drone uses high speed 5G Wifi to transmit its image to its user and the user's inputs to the drone. This makes it responsive and quite nimble. The image the user receives is very accurate. On top of all this, it folds up for ease of transportation.
Ease of Use:
When we finally got a hang of it, we found the Potensic D88 Foldable Drone to be easy enough to use. However the folding and unfolding actually proved to be more of a nuisance than we expected.
Very little assembly time is required for this model. However, we found that we preferred the zip cases of drones like the Vortex 250 Pro to the cases where the drone had to be folded up first.
We would describe the aesthetics of this drone as “passable.” Its design presents nothing special or difficult to navigate.
Potensic offers 180 days return or exchange and a lifelong warranty.
In the end, no drone could out-compete the Vortex 250 Pro in a race. This is impressive, as it is one of the cheapest drone to make this list. Other drones may be better suited to filming animal documentaries and such; but none that we reviewed could dethrone the Vortex 250 Pro.
If you want an excellent, affordable, racing-focused drone, look no further than the Vortex 250 Pro.
